Recipes - Teriyaki Pulled Pork Sandwiches

Pulled pork is usually associated with BBQ flavours so this is a little Asian take on an American classic. Put a pork loin roast in the slow cooker (trim off the layer of fat first), sprinkle with preferred seasonings (I use a general steak seasoning blend) and then pour in 1 can of either Coke, Root Beer or Dr Pepper being careful not to dislodge the seasoning. Cover and cook for 6-7 hours on low.

When Pork is almost cooked, combine in a saucepan: 1 and 1/2 cups water, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1 tsp garlic granules, 3 Tbsps Cornflour, 1 tsp sesame oil. Whisk together until blended and then bring to a boil, stirring. It should thicken and get nice and glossy as it comes to a boil.

Discard the juices from the slow cooker and shred the meat with 2 forks - returning to the crockpot. Pour in the sauce and stir well to coat evenly.

Serve on buns with coleslaw, or lettuce, tomato and onion.
