Monthly Menu - November 2014

So the Pumpkins are put away for another year, the nights are drawing in fast and there's definitely an Autumnal feel in the air today.  Time to break out some of our favourite Autumn/Winter flavours.  More soups, casseroles and oven baked meals will start to creep in this month, although the weather is still extremely mild - not sure if that's a bad omen for the winter to come!

Autumn has so many great flavours - Apples, Plums, Parsnips, Squash, Cranberries, Chestnuts -all creating wonderful warm memories and ideas for new recipes.

As C heads back to school from his first half term break I'm sure they will get straight into practicing for Christmas activities.  I'm quite excited as I remember from my own school days how exciting this particular time of year was.

For our monthly menu plan I have a general idea of which meal we'll eat when but I always keep it flexible for those days when there's something you just really fancy for tea!  I also build in 2-3 blank days to cover our day trips out or a cheeky mid-week takeaway dinner.  As I prepare the recipes I will provide a link to the posts from this menu.

We always have a bowl of salad available at dinner time, along with a bowl of fruit salad which adds to the 5 a day target.  We always have a pudding of some description - when there's nothing specific planned we will have rice pudding, yogurt, ice cream sundaes, or a big bowl of the fruit salad with some greek yogurt.
