Family Fun

On this page I'll be adding comments and links about fun things we have done and places we have visited to give a little inspiration for those "what can we do today?" days.  I'll also add links to any posts of fun things we've done at home - crafts, baking etc.

  • We spent a lovely afternoon at the Natural History Museum in Tring.  Much smaller than its big brother in London but that's not a bad thing with a 4 year old in tow.  Still plenty to see and prompted more questions than we usually get on a car journey.

  • One of our favourite quaint little English seaside spots is Southwold.  It's so old fashioned with none of the money draining amusement parks that seem to be the norm these days.  A beautiful old pier, the most adorable rows of beautifully painted beach huts, a lighthouse, a fabulous ice cream kiosk and the town has plenty of spots for a bite to eat.  You can easily combine a visit with the neighbouring towns of Dunwich (the town that's falling into the sea!) and Aldeburgh - even make a weekend of it!.  The attraction for our 4 year old was that most of the outdoor scenes for the CBeebies show "Grandpa in my Pocket" are filmed in the area so he really thought he was visiting Miss Smiley's Cafe and Mr Mentor the Inventor's Lighthouse!
